On December 11, the Spotlight turns to Sweets, showcasing several favorite confections (including chocolate) as the Seven Seas Navigator sails roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale to Princess Cays, San Juan, St. Thomas, and Nassau. Aboard the seven-night voyage, guests will be guided by one of the world's great dessert masters, Christophe Michalak, the Head Pastry Chef at Restaurant Alain Ducasse at Hotel Plaza Athénée, Paris, working closely with the legendary Alain Ducasse.

Chef Michalak will treat dinner guests to his gold medal-winning creation along with three other signature desserts during the cruise. In addition, he will show how to make some of his favorite desserts during two cooking demonstrations. Christophe Michalak
heads up a team of 23 at the Hotel Plaza Athénée. He previously worked as a chef at Paris’ leading patisserie – Ladurée, and has also worked for Pierre Hermé and Fauchon in the US and Canada. A true artist, he always dreamt of entering the world of fine arts. He has won the prestigious World Pastry Championship in 2005, holding this title over a period of two years. He continues to experiment and discover
new sweet territories.

Of course, no trip to the Caribbean is complete without a relaxing cocktail, so Thierry Hernandez, director of the Bar du Plaza Athénée and named "Best Bartender in Europe," joins the voyage to stir up a continental twist on some classic drinks, and also showcase some new libations. From Martini Lollies and Jellied Cosmopolitans to his now-classic Rose Royale cocktail, Thierry will take mixology to new heights and sensations in a series of demonstrations.

The Cruise - In the six-star tradition of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the Seven Seas Navigator is destined for distinction. Occupying the uppermost niche in cruising, she offers her 490 guests an unusual level of luxury and some of the highest space and service ratios at sea. From her all-suite, all-ocean-view accommodations with their luxurious marble baths to her signature cuisine to her superbly attentive staff, she has few equals.

There are two single, open-seating restaurants plus a Pool Grill. Not to mention, 24-hour room service.

All suites are oceanview and nearly 90% have private balconies. The perfect vantage point from which to view the sights.

France wins the Pastry World Cup 2005 – headed by Christophe Michalak - Pastry Chef at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée Paris. Each team comprised of three pastry chefs, each with their own individual expertise – one in sugar, one in chocolate and the third in icing. Christophe Michalak, who was appointed by the Hotel Plaza Athénée under Chef Alain Ducasse in July 2000, was up against 24 other candidates who specialise in sugar and after a demanding selection process, not only won but also was chosen as team captain for France.

Thierry Hernandez, "Best Bartender in Europe," joins the voyage this year with a history of experimentation and success. Read the London Times review to see what this creative mixologist is up to. (click on icon at left.)
