Our local radio station Coast FM 97.3 announced a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and contest in October of 2006.

Universal accounting department's very own Diane McGovern (pictured at left with DJ Julie Guy) submitted the winning entry!

The entire office participated in the Passionately Pink Awareness- and was treated to a visit from the radio station, lunch & a thoroughly PINK day. Universal Travel is honored to have such a caring staff.

from Coast FM Radio Award coverage:
"THANK YOU! to everyone who was a part of the first ever PASSIONATELY PINK ON THE COAST day on Friday October 20th! "

"The response was unbelieveable and it just shows you how much Breast Cancer touches EVERYONE's life in one way or the other! We received TONS of emails from companies, businesses, offices, and even some schools all over South Florida who committed to wear something PINK AND who committed to donate to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation"

"Diane McGovern from Universal Travel/American Express in Fort Lauderdale not only rallied her entire office to wear PINK, but she asked all her co-workers and friends to donate money to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation INSTEAD of spending money on her for her birthday! Her birthday was also October 20th! "

"Check out the PINK Pictures, and you'll see they bought her a cake anyway...but the fact that Diane put OTHERS needs before her own, really displayed the true spirit of PASSIONATELY PINK ON THE COAST!
"

PASSIONATELY PINK On The COAST Email

This is just a part of the email we received from Diane. It's what she sent all her co-workers at Universal Travel
in Fort Lauderdale about PASSIONATELY PINK ON THE COAST day on October 20th!
From Diane's Email dated October 18, 2006...
Good Afternoon Everyone,
My father was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease when I was 10 Years old. Unfortunately he was not a survivor. He passed away April of 1971.
So Cancer has been a word in my family from a very early stage of my life. First, I would like to say I have participated in a cancer walk about 5 years ago with friends and my daughter. It was the most wonderful experience of my life to help the cause. We walked all night long for 3 days. We won awards for best camp site and dance performance. Willy Wonka was our camp theme. Grease Lightening was our dance routine. Plus, we had loads of money donated for we had a Pool Tournament. It was a huge success! That was just the beginning...

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October of every year. I was listening to the radio...97.3 the COAST and Julie Guy...and they were talking about this.
When they mentioned about PASSIONATELY PINK ON THE COAST day and everyone in the office wearing pink, a light bulb went off in my head. Right there I knew our office is one of the greatest to contribute to this cause.
Pink Day is designated for Friday, October 20, 2006...which everyone knows is my Birthday. I would like to ask everyone in the office to participate with me in wearing pink for the day.
You have treated me so kind for my previous Birthdays and I Thank Every One Very Much. So now I am going ask you something, instead of celebrating my Birthday, Friday...I would like to ask for you to give a dollar donation to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I want to thank you all from the bottom of MY PINK HEART...

You know Pink Means Love.........
Thank You,
Diane
